Mercurial Dream Symbols
It appears to be ‘game on’ again right now for conscious/subconscious musings, playing with opening ‘the interface’ between dimensions and worlds…
Last night as I drifted off to sleep a clear image of Mercury/Hermes briefly punctuated my otherwise empty mind. Of course I took it as a pointer towards the next key subject to delve into!
This sort of synchronistic playtime is very much like being a detective of sorts, of the subtle mythic realms, what fun 🙂
Mercury in Astrology & Alchemy
In alchemy Mercury is seen as the passive moist symbol, yin, regression to an undifferentiated state.
From an Astrological perspective Mercury is considered the child of the Sun (Life) & the Moon (Birth).
As a planet it is swift and ceaselessly spinning closest to the sun. He carries the caduceus staff which represents the dynamic balance between complimentary opposites, exchange, communication and reciprocity.
Mercury Knowledge, is in any case a term for a science of inward regeneration which we know by the name of Yoga – Dictionary of Symbols
Inner Yoga of Music
So exploring the Mercurial gave me the thought of The Yoga of Music, which in the simplest sense means union, in this case inner union through sound and exploration of the art of music.
I’ve often had an interesting dreamlike inner visioning occur when moving into a songwriting or performance flow, which is kind of like surfing the membrane between subtle and tangible domains, every now and then bringing forth some new idea or expression form seemingly nowhere.
Now contemplating the metaphor of Union between Sun & Moon — a massive metaphysical archetype — and the product of that interplay between conscious and subconscious, visible and invisible, The Mercurial Interface of swift communication, for me at least a few new major insights slot securely into place.
Happy days!
